I just wanted to drop you a quick note about how happy I am with the iBootBar. They are paying for themselves. I have a quick story that just happened that might be a first so I wanted to share it with you. In a nutshell, I received an email about a problem at one of our sites. There was going to be a client visit in a couple of hours and the screen was offline. the computer needed to be rebooted. I was able to login to the iboot bar and reboot the PC. Seeing the amperage being pulled was all the indication I needed that the system was functioning again as it should.

So far there is nothing special about this story... Here is the first for me... I am on a plane at 31K feet using the inflight WiFi system. This is a 5 1/2 hour flight from LA to Charlotte. So I just fixed a down screen, that is getting a visit in a couple of hours. The advantage of being web accessible and literally being able to access it from anywhere, no special software, no special anything, just a connection to the net just saved me today.

The iBoot has made our power management much simpler. The Control Center software is simple to use, and does exactly what I need it to do. I can see our exhibits from my computer and troubleshoot exponentially faster than I could before.

I look forward to receipt of another outstanding Dataprobe product. We have been using an iBootBar for some time now and it has performed admirably well. It has been a valuable tool eliminating the need to schedule personnel to leave their desk and restart a computer experiencing a lockup from a faulty third party application in a public safety position. Keep up the good product engineering.

"Since I saw the article about iBoots in airports, I thought you might want to know that's where ours go as well. The kiosks and dynamic signage systems I develop are all for Interspace Airport Advertising which is a division of Clear Channel Outdoor (www.iaateam.com). I've pasted some pictures of a few of our installations below. Currently we have systems with iBoots installed at airports in Anchorage Alaska, Portland, OR, Alburquerque, Milwaukie, Palm Beach, Fort Myers, Columbus, Buffalo-Niagara, Lexington, KY, Providence, RI, Norfolk, VA, Huntsville, Colorado Springs, Sacramento, Tucson, Curacao, San Jose Costa Rica, Dunedin, NZ, Nelson, NZ, Queenstown, NZ, Goldcoast, AU, and several others. Lots more coming.

We employ iBoots so that our computers can turn power on and off to the large format LCDs, videowall displays and digital banners we use. By turning them off at night when the airports are closed, we extend product life and reduce maintenance. Shutting a $7-20K display off for 5 hours a day, we theoretically expand it's life by roughly 20% - not a bad tradeoff for a $275 investment. Also, since many of our systems are located in very hard to reach places (above escalators for example), iBoots enable us to "kick" a system remotely with a reboot saving someone from going into an airport after closing and climbing a ladder or using a cherry picker. Also, being able to remotely turn off the display allows us to perform diagnostics and maintenance without it being seen by airport visitors. Finally, having universal power is a big plus since we install in so many different countries. "

"Prior to the implementation of Dataprobe's iBootBar, anytime one of the break-out boxes required a firmware upgrade or remote service, maintenance was called to the room in question to open up the rack and power cycle the device manually. With maintenance staff potentially located in a different building, and with six or seven break-out boxes per hearing room, the Senate decided this situation was no longer workable. Thanks to the iBootBar, when a box needs to be reset, it can be done easily and efficiently-from the maintenance shop. Using remote control for this type of issue versus having to be in the physical location to power cycle equipment is a great benefit."

"I am the Senior Field Engineer for a Federal Law Enforcement Task Force. My job includes managing, maintaining, and improving our own Special Operations Support Unit and also supporting all other federal, state, county, and local law enforcement agencies; 200 of them with all forms of electronic surveillance. Out of the 200 agencies, only about 20 of them have their own technical support units and I work with them all.

For the last two years we have been working on a large project that has helped fight crime on a whole new level. There has been one weak point in this project that has not only cost us a lot of over-time but has also slowed us down because of all the time we had to spend going out and manually re-booting equipment. Some of the areas this equipment has been installed in require us to put a team of undercover officers together to act as 'protection' for a technician to go out and do the re-boot. It also requires the use of a special truck because of the height of the equipment. This has cost us a lot financially, but it has also jeopardized lives and cases.

On our last equipment deployment - the Friday night before Memorial Day weekend - our equipment lasted only 12 hours before needing to be re-booted. The case involved a threat to the life of a Law Enforcement Officer and his family. So for the next few days (remember this is a Holiday weekend), every 12 to 24 hours we had to put a group of people together to go out and re-boot this device. As you can see, this put a lot of people's lives and plans on hold to protect the life of this man and his family and we all did this happily.

After finding your iBoot online, and then installing it into our equipment, we have not had to go out to this unit again. I have not only made it a policy in our office that any new installation MUST have an iBoot installed in it, but I have also notified the other 20 tech departments I work with and have told them that they will need to do the same. Your iBoot will save lives!"

"Our technicians could be called upon at all hours of the day and night and spend valuable time getting to the facility. Once there, they would have to locate the correct data closet, impose upon hospital security staff to unlock its door and then service the equipment. With Dataprobe's iBoot a Parco technician can stop, start and restart any device from any Web-enabled PC with just the click of a mouse or use the automated settings to cycle power for software updates and regular maintenance."

- Scott Cohen, CEO of Parco Wireless

"Sending a technician out in the middle of the night on a service call to the facility is very expensive. Labor and related travel costs can easily add up and with the time it takes to dispatch a technician to the site and resolve the issue, the facility's equipment and patients are vulnerable while the systems are offline."

-Peter Strome, President of New England Networking

"We needed a dependable switching system that would enable us to move large volumes of sensitive information to back-up data equipment in the event of system downtime or failure. Dataprobe's K-16 product line was selected after we conducted an internal comparative analysis study against other A/B switch competitors. Dataprobe's products consistently outperformed the competition with smart features at an attractive price point. We particularly liked that Dataprobe's K-16 switches were flexible, robust and easy to use. We also liked the added convenience of the IP feature which allows for remote switch control and the ability to mix and match cards.

Without Dataprobe, if a problem did occur with our communications infrastructure we would be pulling out cables from one device into another to solve the issue. Having Dataprobe's technology in place has saved us time, money and endless headaches. What's more, it has helped us to improve our service and our ability to serve others; and, for ARINC, that is invaluable."

- Robert Poole, Director of IT at ARINC

"Dataprobe has been an invaluable partner to Harris Corporation over the past four years. Reliability is vital to our business. Dataprobe has consistently provided reliable, customized solutions to fit our project needs and that's helped ensure quality results time after time. We are proud of the relationship we've developed with Dataprobe, which is precisely what this award symbolizes."

-Gary Clark, Senior Manager, materials GCSD at Harris Corporation

"Our business is contingent on the reliability of our service and the satisfaction of our customers. Service calls can be difficult for small businesses, and can impede on the ability to properly service customers. We were looking to limit these calls and minimize the associated costs, and found that Dataprobe's iBoot was the ideal solution."

-Steve Melhorn of UnwiredOnline

"While we typically only have to reboot a handful of terminals across the country on any given day, the costs of dispatching technicians just to re-power our systems by the on/off switch can mount quickly. With iBoot, our Operations team can access the network from their offices and cycle power to any of our kiosks, managing the problem within minutes. It's a great little insurance policy."

-Todd White, Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Neptune Networks

"The iBoots helped us prepare for the unforeseen. The storm was so severe that there was a 4-inch layer of ice on the equipment. A constant flow of heat is the only weapon against that kind of damage, and the iBoot allowed us to generate and maintain heat without even setting foot on the island."

-Matt BenDaniel, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of Slooh

"Dataprobe's unique line of products allowed them to tailor a solution to meet the FAA's requirements. There is no other product on the market that functions exactly like the Dataprobe voice protection switch."

-Mark Graham, FTI Chief Systems Engineer
