Need to reset iBoot

Need to reset iBoot

Postby mstoetzl » December 9th, 2010, 2:21 pm

I installed a new router in my LAN system that was controling the Dataprobe iBoot.
While attemping to assign a new I.P. address to the iBoot it has locked up.
Initially I was able to assign the default address, but after powering it up and down several times I have lost communication with the device.
I have tried powering it up and down several times, but that did not change anything.
Now when I querry the iBoot from the set up program I get no response.

I would like to start over and configure the iBoot to the factory installed configuration
Or assign the iBoot one of my subnet addresses or assign it an I.P. address of " 0.0.0.0 " to let it self assign an address.

Please help!

Thx,
Mark

Mark,

Without knowing the version of your iBoot, my answer will be generic, and should work for most iBoots.

I am assuming your iboot either has an incorrect ip number or is now set for DHCP.
The easiest way to work around the problem that you are having is to connect the iBoot in question directly to your PC or Laptop. This will prevent the iBoot from obtaining an IP address from the DHCP server.
You will need a static ipaddress on your PC before doing this procedure, I recomend 192.168.1.200

1. Power down the iBoot
2. Disconnect it from the network.
3. Disconnect your PC or laptop from the network.
4. Connect the iBoot to the PC or laptop’s ether net jack.
5. Power up the iBoot
6. Run the iBoot Setup Utility.
7. Click on the discover button. This should locate the iBoot.
8. Click on factory defaults. The iBoot should now be set to factory defaults.
9. Power down the iBoot
10. Reconnect the iBoot and the PC to the network.
11. Power up the iBoot.
12. Use the iBoot setup utility or check you DCHP server for the iBoots IP address.
13. Connect using you choice of web browser.

Post if this works, thanks.
If it does not, please let me know the version of iboot you have.
