Using USB port, iBoot G2+

Using USB port, iBoot G2+

Postby SteveF » March 23rd, 2011, 1:54 pm

Hi Sam,
I just received two iBoot G2+ devices. I simply want to turn the output on and off via the USB port. The ftdi drivers I downloaded won't work with MS .Net 4.0 (I can't add the dlls as references. I also can't find any serial port commands. Would you please enlighten me on these subjects?

Thanks, Steve

The USB should install to the PC as a serial port.
Check the available COM ports after install and open Hyperterminal or similar communications program.
This makes the Command Line Interface in the iBoot available to control the outlet(s).

If you need a simple serial communication program
We have written one that is available here:

Thanks Sam,
My biggest problem was downloading the wrong manual. I used .Net's serial port driver and once I knew to use 'set main on/off' instead of 'set outlet on/off' it worked fine.

Note to Windows users for USB. Use device manager to discover the port then use hyperTerminal to test comm.
Start with
User>user <enter>
Pwd> user <enter>
set main <on/off>
logout

Steve,
The drivers we provide on our web site make the USB port on the iBoot-G2+ appear as just another com port.
There are no .net programmers available at Dataprobe that can help you import DLLs into .net.
As for the serial commands, please see CLI Commands on page 19 of the manual for the iBoot-G2+'s commands. If you are looking for .net serial commands I am sorry but I cannot help.
