PowerPal dial control remote reboot

No Extra Dial Lines Needed!

The user can turn power ON, OFF or Reboot (Power Cycle) remote equipment from ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD by entering tone (DTMF) digits using an ordinary tone dial phone.

The phone line connected to PowerPALcan also be used by other equipment in a normal manner after control of power. With one phone call, you can power up, down or reboot equipment then ring the telephone device connected to PowerPAL's Extension port.

Pal works by answering the call and listening for dialing tones. If correct tones are heard, PowerPAL responds with the current power status and then allows additional tone digits sent to control power. Once power control is completed, the device connected to PowerPAL's Extension can be rung and accessed if desired.

PowerPAL features four call answering modes, many security and power control options, making it easy to use and very flexible. An On/Off/Auto switch allows local manual control. PowerPAL is factory set with the most common operating mode. PowerPAL is easily re-programmed using a standard tone dial phone.

Why PowerPAL Works Better!

Unlike inferior products, PowerPAL does not rely on counting rings to engage power control. With PowerPAL, All power control is secure, and wrong numbers will not reboot your critical component. With ring counting brands, you have to let the line ring up to 15 times before power is acted upon. You can not use that phone line with any phone, modem, fax, as you can't have it answer before the power control. That costs you an extra $35 a month for a dedicated phone line.

PowerPAL remote reboot over phone lines. Touch tone control of remote power by DTMF dialing tones
Unlike inferior products, PowerPAL always detects the power control codes. Some products sit passively on the phone line waiting for the control codes. If your modem answers, those tones need to be heard over the modem's tones and is very unreliable. PowerPAL answers each call and gives you a specific prompt, ringback or silence to know exactly when to enter your security and power control tones. You never miss the chance to control the power.

Unlike inferior products, PowerPAL control the phone line and power control functions. Normal callers will never even know that PowerPAL is there. Only you with your Security Code or Power Control Code will be able to engage PowerPAL's switching functions. PowerPAL's three phone answering modes and three security modes allow complete control of call handling and power switching functions.

Security Options:

  • Both Dial Line access and Power Control are Security Code protected. If no code is received. PowerPal terminates the call.
  • Power is secure, with the phone line available to all callers. If no code is received, PowerPal rings the telephony device connected to it.
  • No password is required for power or phone line access.

Features
Call Answer Modes

PAL can be set to answer incoming calls in four ways. The mode you select will depend on who is usually calling and the level of security wanted for control of power, and extension access. In all cases, the number of rings before PowerPAL answers the call, security code features, and the number of rings to the Extension Port are selectable.

Normal Answer Mode
PowerPAL answers the call and generates a standard 'Ringback' signal. This signal is like the one you hear when the phone company is ringing the line to PowerPAL. During the quiet times between rings, PowerPALlistens for control tones sent by the caller. If, after two ringback cycles, no tones are heard, PowerPAL checks the security level that has been set. With security level 0 and 1, PowerPAL will ring the Extension Port. With security level 2 the call will now be disconnected. Use the Normal Answer Mode if: Voice or Fax calls are being made to the device on PowerPAL's Extension Port and you don't want the caller to know that PowerPAL is there.

Answer and Prompt Mode
Pal answers the call and generates three short beeps to prompt the caller. If no control tones are received within 6 seconds, PowerPAL checks the security level. With security level 0 and 1, PowerPAL will ring the Extension Port. With security level 2 the call is disconnected. Use the Answer and Prompt Mode if: You want a more secure line or you want to know exactly when to put in the power control tones.

Answer and Quiet Mode Pal answers the call and remains quiet for 10 seconds, waiting for control tones. If not received within 10 seconds, PowerPAL checks the security level. With security level 0 and 1, PowerPAL will ring the Extension Port. With security level 2 the call is disconnected. Use the Answer and Quiet Mode if: You want secure control of power and the shortest time before the extension is rung or if you want to use a calling modem's wait for quiet time before sending control tones. This feature allows automatic control using a modem. ( Wait for quiet before sending additional tones is the @ command in the dialing string for most modems.)

Answer and Dial Tone Mode Pal answers the call and sends 4 seconds of dial tone, then waits 6 seconds for control tones. If not received within the 6 seconds, PowerPAL checks the security level. With security level 0 and 1, PowerPAL will ring the Extension Port. With security level 2 the call is disconnected. Use the Answer and Dial Tone Mode if: You are using automated access and wish to utilize your modems wait for second dial tone command before sending control tones. (W in the dialing string for most modems).
Security Features

PAL offers three levels of security. With Security On, PowerPAL must receive a preset sequence of digits before power control can be made or the Extension accessed.

See how PowerPAL makes an ideal Security Device.

Security Level
0   Security Off, No Security Code Required.
1   Security Code Required for Power Control Only.
2   Security Code Required for Both Power Control and Extension Access.

With PowerPAL set for level 0 security, the DTMF digit 1 Wakes PowerPAL up and allows access to control functions.

With level 1 or 2, a user set code sequence of from 1-6 digits must be received before control is allowed. Once the Wake-up digit 1 or the security code is received, PowerPAL will respond with the current power status. (ON = 2 Beeps OFF = 1 Beep).

When set for security for Power Only, level 1; all callers have unrestricted access to the extension. When set for level 2 security, the security code is required to control all PowerPAL functions, power and extension.

If an incorrect security code is entered, PowerPAL will send a low Error tone and wait for a second attempt. If the second attempt is incorrect or if no security code is entered. PowerPAL will check the security level. With security level 0 and 1 PowerPAL will now ring the extension port. With level 2, the call will be disconnected.
